Isabel Sutcliffe is an independent consultant working in the education & skills sector.
Prior to setting up her own company in May 2015, she was Pearson's International Standards &Quality Director, based in India. She had taken up this position having completed her
secondment as Interim Director of the Centre for Assessment, Evaluation & Research, a PPP
venture between Pearson Foundation and CBSE – India’s largest English-Medium School
Examination Board.


Prior to her work in India, Isabel held the post of Pearson/Edexcel's Regulation, Standards and Research Director, which included the role of Responsible Officer. In this role she was
accountable for the integrity of Edexcel's awards made to individual learners and for the
accreditation and licensing services offered to organisations – both UK-based and overseas. In
the role of Responsible Officer she managed the critical relationship with the UK-based
Regulatory Authorities, including Ofqual, and provided a focal point within Pearson for advice,
support and decision-making in relation to standard setting and maintenance at organisational
and/or qualification level.
Isabel is currently involved in projects in India & Mozambique.
She is an Independent Member of the Institute for Apprenticeship’s Quality Assurance
Committee, a Trustee of two UK Awarding Bodies, a member of Ofqual’s Standards Advisory
Group, a member of City & Guilds Quality & Standards Committee and a Freeman of the City of London’s Worshipful Company of Educators.
Isabel is passionate about assessment & accreditation as the means by which to instil and
maintain the quality and consistency of learning outcomes thereby meeting the needs of
learners, employers and Higher Education.
